Downloading and Installing the PrintKit Printer Model Definition Supplement

The PKMODELS023-P01 PrintKit Printer Model Definition Supplement should be
applied to PrintKit v2.3 or later versions ONLY.  Do not use this kit with
any version below 2.3; it is not compatible with PrintKit v2.2 versions. 

You can install the supplement on an active OpenVMS system without
disturbing other operations.  The installation adds the new model
information to your existing configuration, so it does not disturb
existing PrintKit queue definitions. 

To install the supplement, you must be logged in to the SYSTEM account,
or another account with privileges to create and modify files in the
system directories.  This account should have a paging file quota of at
least 100,000 blocks -- smaller values may keep the installation from
recovering unused space in library files it updates. (You can check the
quota with SHOW PROCESS /QUOTA, and you can modify it with AUTHORIZE.) 

The downloadable version of the kit is provided as a self-extracting
executable: 

    PKMODELS023-P01.IA64_EXE    Integrity systems

    PKMODELS023-P01.VAX_EXE     VAX systems

You download the compressed files and RUN them on your OpenVMS system to
produce the decompressed files. 

These are binary files.  Be sure to keep this in mind if you need to
transfer them between systems.  (For instance, use TYPE IMAGE with FTP.)
The compressed files should appear on your OpenVMS system with
fixed-length 512-byte records.

Retrieve the appropriate file for your system, then execute the file to
create the file PKMODELS023-P01.A, which is a VMSINSTAL kit:

    $ RUN PKMODELS023-P01.AXP_EXE

Use VMSINSTAL to install the kit.  For example:

    $ @SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL PKMODELS023-P01 device:[directory]
